In late winter of this year, Habitat for Humanity of Fulton County was offered a home as a donation. It came at exactly the right time. A
new Board of Directors had been elected and they were ready to revive the organization with their energy and enthusiasm. Their first order of business was to look for a home to rehab for their next project. And then they were contacted...
This two-story, 3 bedroom, 1 bath home is in need of complete interior and exterior renovation. Dave D'Amore of AND: Architecture and Design has reviewed the project. A scope of work plan has been ordered. Once the plans and material list are received and approved, the project will begin. HFHFC expects to start demolition in late-July. Watch for the progress on this website and on our FACEBOOK page.
A volunteer database for this project is being created. If you would like to be added to the volunteer database, visit the Volunteer page and complete the online volunteer form, then hit submit.
Now that there is a home to rehab, a family is needed to partner with Habitat to help make this house their new home. Habitat does not give homes away, but partners with families, who, if qualified, will work on the project doing "sweat equity", will take part in personal finance classes and will at the end of the project be given a no interest mortgage on the property. The mortgage payment is designed to fit within the family's housing allowance.
If you are such a family or know of a family that is living in substandard housing, is looking for a "A hand up, not a handout" and can answer YES to all the questions on this quick five question qualifier, please contact the Habitat office at 773.4912, via email at habitatfultonco@yahoo.com or US Mail to the post office box: PO Box 1231, Gloversville, NY 12078. Habitat wants to hear from you.
